6:30 am. Police knock on our door. This can't be good. (Manic Mommy Monday)

I. Freaked. Out. 6:30 AM this morning, I am woken by a knock at the door! I fly out of bed like a bat out of hell and peer out the window of our bedroom to see a POLICE car! It can't be good when a cop is knocking on your door at 6:30 AM. Hubby descends the stairs to answer the door. Panic. Sets. In.

Evidently some neighborhood kids wanted to serve us up meat (bologna) and eggs for breakfast this lovely morning. Either that or they were investing in our lawn by helping to give it some"body" and "shine" with the eggs! I know you are are thinking...How sweet of them, why didn't they stop by my house! Well if I see them, I will tell them to make sure they "share the love."

Luckily it was nothing bad, and no family members were in trouble. In fact, I would have even gotten a little humor out of the whole incident had it not been for my slight panic attack and the fact that the knocking woke up my little guy who had actually decided to sleep in. I am almost positive that I was entering the early stages of "fight or flight" with the adrenaline that was racing inside me. Can you tell that I don't hand stress that well?

Let the kids are out for the summer begin!

Has your car ever been hit by eggs, toilet paper, bologna or anything?

What about your house?

Have the police ever had to come to your door? What was the outcome?

  1. The police banged (not knocked, but banged) on our door a couple Friday nights ago around 10 pm. We were painting the nursery and Noah was sleeping in the guest room instead. Terrifying to have the cops bang on your door. Turns our our neighbor (that we don't even know) has a warrant out for his arrest for his driver's license being revoked and they were asking questions about him (that we couldn't answer). Glad it wasn't serious or that someone didn't throw eggs at our house! I can't believe that happened to you!

  2. Hubby was home sick once and the cops came knocking on the door. Aparently someone in our area called 911 from an unnamed cellphone so they were going door to door to find out who it was. Turned out to be some kid who dialed it by accident, freaked out and hung up. Hubby wasn't too happy being woken up though.

  3. Not on my lawn. But one time someone popped the hood of my car and put a sandwich in my engine. I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish. Another time someone dumped a milkshake on the car and then urinated all over the hood in the dead of winter. It was 20 below zero and everything was frozen shut for two weeks by some drunk college guy's pee! When it finally warmed up enough to get the door open, it was so gross having to touch it to drive to the carwash.

  4. One time a young man was drinking with some friends. He passed out in my back yard. The police had to park in our driveway and spent some time finding him. They brought all types of emergency equipment with lights and sirens waking us all up. We never would have know he was there had they not come to find him.

  5. A few months ago I was still sleeping but, hubby was up (and on the phone with my MIL no less!) when two cops knocked on the door looking for me. He said he would get me but they gave him a paper with their number for me to call them. I was freaking out! I called and they said it was something that happened in Rocky Hill and to call the RHPD. Come to find out a good friend of mine has been using my ancient Big Y card that I probably left there 13 years ago when I moved and getting social services that she shouldn't be in the form of Big Y gift cards.

  6. Nothing like that has happened to me yet. My parents once had a truck driver ring the doorbell at 3 am. He had took a wrong turn and ended up stuck with a semi truck in their residential crescent and needed them to move the car so he could make the corner. Lets just say my dad wasn't too impressed.
