#FlatsChallenge: Fold a Flat Here, Fold a Flat There, Here a Fold, There a Fold, Everywhere a Fold Fold

Day 2 Update: Well I have survived Day 2 of the Flats Challenge. Day 2 was even more challenging than day 1 because I had to work all day. Here is a quick look at my schedule:

6:00 AM: Wake Up, Get Dressed, Make-Up, Pack Up Flats, Covers, Diaper Bag, Milk, Pump, Lunch, Drinks, Boppy, Jumper, basically everything...

6:30 AM: Leave house, hoping I didn't forget anything

7:00 AM: Arrive at my Parent's House, Feed Baby, Eat Breakfast, Go to Work

8:00 AM-5:00PM Work, Checked e-mail and found out I won 6 Prefolds from Knickernappies! YEAH! While at work, I also realize I forgot all my pump accessories...got pump, no accessories...grrrrr...call my Mom, luckily she has extra accessories that my sister used last year! I knew I forgot something.

5:00 PM: Feed Baby, enter a few giveaways:-)

5:30 PM: Eat dinner, play some cards with my parents, walk around their house with baby in a stroller to get him to fall asleep, while playing cards mind you.

8:00 PM: Get home, carefully maneuver Baby J.T. from car seat to swing.

8:15 PM: Run outside and rinse flats.

8:30 PM: Add detergent to buckets and plunge away.

9:00 PMRealize my Cell Phone is LOST - tear apart the house to find it...can't find it...left it at work! Great!!!

9:15 PM: Feed Baby, put baby down for bed, Log-In for Fluffy Rump Twitter Party.

9:45-10:00 PM: Go outside again for 2 more rinses!!

10:30 PM: Strategically hang diapers on rack and around house (pictures tomorrow)

11:00 PM: Finish running around doing a million things, attempt to go to bed, baby's monitor alarm goes off, and hubby has no idea what to do, so I do damage control! Everything is fine...false alarm.

12:00 AM: Finally get to bed, praying my flats will be dried in the AM.

Yeap, that about sums up my day.....all in all, the only reason I typed out my schedule was to tell you that it is possible to hand-wash even on some of my busiest days!! And no, I wasn't thrilled to go outside at 10 PM to wash my diapers in the dark, but you gotta do what you gotta do. So now that we have my venting over with, I can get to the actual blogging topic of the day...

My Favorite Folds so Far:

I must say that I love making the Origami Fold Method. It is actually fun. I had to practice a lot (with the model above) with my receiving blankets, which by the way, do not work as well as I expected them to work:-( Because of some of the problems below, I have resorted to the Pad Fold Method with the receiving blankets. The Pad Fold method seems to give me the most absorbency. I might try and purchase a few pins, and use those with the Origami method.

Here are a few problems I ran into with the receiving blankets:
  • They take a little longer to dry.
  • Because of the material they are made of, they don't seem to absorb as well as the flour sacks.
  • I am having a hard time getting the Snappi to stay when using it with the receiving blankets. It might be the flannel like material? I will play around with it more today to see if I can find a solution.
What about you, what is your favorite diaper folding method so far?

How have you been keeping up with the challenge?

Have you come across any challenges yet?

  1. I had the same problem trying to use my snappi on receiving blankets. That's how I ended up with pins for the challenge. I'm actually really liking the pins, oddly, even more than the snappi.

  3. I have some flannel outer fitteds (w/o snaps or aplix) and it takes me forever to get the snappi to snag on. i heard the boingo works better but dont have any yet.
