Scary Baby Dreams

I have never been one to wake up in the middle of the night with a bad dream! I have a bad dream here and there...maybe once a year? In fact, most of the time I wake up, it seems that my night was dreamless...meaning I can't remember any dreams if I did have them!

Since I had my son 5 months ago, I seem to wake up from a dead sleep (if there is such a thing for a mom) and think that I dropped the baby or he is missing! I think this happens especially if my husband puts the baby down to bed at night. It is quite scary thinking that something might have happened to your baby!

I will shoot straight up in bed and frantically start looking around to make sure he is in his crib and not in my arms or in the bed! It is rather scary, but luckily he has been in his crib every time.

I think it is caused by a lack of sleep mixed with Mothering instinct! I hope that these dreams subside so I can sleep a little sounder at night!

How about you, do you have a little one at home?

How are your sleep habits with the baby?

Do you ever wake up with bad dreams about your baby missing?

  1. That is so scary :o! I don't have any children, so I've never experienced anything like that.

I completely relate to you though with usually not remembering dreams. When I do, I always get really excited though ^.^

  2. I think it is common. I remember doing something similar when I had babies. Hope it passes soon.

  3. I had that happen with one of mine. I think it's just our mommy fears coming into play - that and hormones! Thankfully it didn't last for long with me. Hopefully you'll be able to sleep better soon!

  5. That happens to me sometimes - mostly I think I hear him screaming and wake up thinking he's in trouble... but of course he is totally quiet!!

  6. Oh yikes not a nice feeling for sure it would leave you panicky I'm sure. I don't have kids but I can sort of sense how panicky it would be if I did :(

  7. I had those too :( Although the nightmares are gone, I haven't slept completely through the night since my boy was born (he is 2)... I am getting better with 6 hours max. I feel the need to check on him all.the.time. it is annoying to say the least ~ but I adore him so much!

  8. Awww that sounds awful! Sometimes I will have dreams that I went somewhere or came home and forgot to get one of my children. When I am awake, I know I could never forget about any one of them but sometimes I'll have dreams about it.

  9. We were talking about this before but i'll post what I said. This has happen to me a few too many times. Twice I woke up and grabbed him out of his crib (next to me) half asleep screaming for him to wake up. This happened a few days after I read about a baby from my birth group on baby center that passed away in his sleep. His name was Drew and he was 3 months. His story really got to me and bothered me for a long time. His sitter was putting him to sleep on his tummy even though the mother told her not to. He passed away from suffocation. So after reading Drew's story is when my scary baby dreams started. I havent had one is awhile.
